I'm thinking of getting into sales, I have a marketing degree. I need some general advice which way to go

I would like to get into marketing or sales, which ones better? What are some hot commodities that are selling (like what kind of business should I get into). Should I sell for myself or start out working for another company. Are there any areas of sales or marketing that are both fun/interesting and lucrative?
