A strong adhesive for DIY repairs?

The towel bar/ rack in my bathroom has become loose the nails are just not doing the job. I want to add a glue or caulk to make the bar sturdier. Any recommendations? I really don't want to fully remove the bar I just want to add a little extra support / sturdiness to the bar.
