Why does my dog whine for no apparent reason?

I have a 3-1/2 month old Lab-Mastiff and recently she started whining for no apparent reason. She doesn't have to go to the bathroom and seems to feel fine. Sometimes it's when she's playing and sometimes when she's trying to go to sleep. She is teething so could it be because of that? Any ideas or suggestions?
